About Rachel
Rachel Opare-Sem is a vital part of the architecture+ mental health design and patient safety team. As an architectural designer, she is committed to using design as a tool to improve and enrich lives of often under-served communities. She supports her clients and design teams by imparting her in-depth knowledge of patient safe products and her technical sensibilities to create thoughtful and therapeutic environments that elevate the stakeholder and patient experiences.
Healthcare Design Work
Rachel’s experience encompasses an array of mental healthcare-centered projects — from fire safety upgrades at crisis residences to new, state-of-the art psychiatric hospitals. She seizes every opportunity to closely collaborate with facility planners, architects, engineers, constructors, and manufacturers leading the charge in generative healthcare design to promote functionality, safety, healing, and dignity to the continuum of care. Her unique experience evaluating patient-safe products and installations, knowledge of medical equipment planning, and construction administration expertise solidifies the success of each project.
